On vacation

I'm currently on vacation...so that's the reason why I haven't updated frequently. Enjoying some days beside the pool and the sea.

Pucci

Emilio Pucci will perhaps be always remembered for his geometric print designs during the 60s and 70s, designs that were ad hoc to the times, bold and eye catching, for some trashy, and for others (including me) artistic. Whatever your perception about Pucci is, it can't be denied that he had an important influence in fashion 40 years ago. Pucci, native from Florence and owner of the old Palazzo Pucci, designed mostly womenswear, and yet he ventured to design some accesories for men.

In the last couple of years, with the 60s and 70s revival, his vintage designs have been sought after again; designs made up of brilliant colors, paisley like figures, and geometic shapes.

Below a photo of Pucci holidaying with his wife on the Italian Coast during the early 60s.

Rainy Summer

Faye Dunaway & Steve Mc Queen in a still from "The Thomas Crown Affair". Nothing more perfect for a rainy day than a trench coat.

Gucci Cruise 2008

Gucci's 2008 Cruise collection ad is reminiscent of mystery and thriller flicks from the 60s. It evokes the likes of "The Thomas Crown Affair". White suits, black shirts, ties, leather jackets, a beautiful woman, a chase around a deserted beach that could possibly be in the French Riviera, and a sophisticated mystery atmosphere make up this ad.

They say an image is worth more than a thousand words, but with this Gucci ad, it's proven to be the opposite, an image just doesn't do justice to the ad, so instead of the ad's image you'll see below a link to the video.

Summer with an Uptown Girl

Another summer fashion photo from 1980...this time showing Christie Brinkley relaxing on a couch with some friends. Once again timeless summer fashion. It may sound a bit repetitive maybe to post summer fashion pics, and seeing some "looks" once again, but this just proves they're classic.

An important thing this summer and maybe more important than the clothes is sun screen...sure we all like getting and sporting a nice tan...but it's better to be protected than later face some unwanted consequences. Summer today isn't what it was like in 1968...unfortunately.

I'd like to thank those of you who come back frequently to read this blog, I'm glad you're liking it, and if you want something to be shown or talked about tell me.

White

White clothes are a must for the summer, not only does it help get rid somehow of the heat, but it looks stylish. Below an example of an all white look from the late 70s/early 80s. Notice how the black belt with the golden buckle livens up the ensemble.
